The SF Museum of Ice Cream blew into town last year and immediately became a favorite SF sweet treat. Sold out weeks, sometimes months in advance, I finally made my first trip to this pop up installation last week. TK’s niece and her BFF were in town for the weekend, the perfect excuse to add this quirky new experience to the usual SF tourist itinerary. If you’re curious about what all the hype is about, here are a few fun facts about the SF Museum of Ice Cream that I picked up during our visit.
You’ll need a new name.
Dreaming is highly encouraged.
Some places bring out the child in you, regardless of age. The SF Museum of Ice Cream is one of those places. Childlike wonder, imagination and big dreams are themes that you’ll enjoy whether you’re 8 or 80.
Leave your troubles at the door.
There’s no crying in baseball- and there are no troubles in the SF Museum of Ice Cream. It’s hard to have troubles while riding a circus animal cookie and eating ice cream. Nuff said.
You’ll leave a trail of sprinkles everywhere you go.
After the sprinkle pool, you will leave a trail of sprinkles everywhere. Like a magical candy elf, or a walking ice cream sundae- evidence of your adventure will follow you home.
Time will fly (and so will you).
Swings are instant happiness. They immediately transport you back to childhood and that sense of freedom, flying high in the sky.
Your time in the museum will also fly by. When we made it to the final stop, the Ice Cream Shop, I looked at the time thinking it had only been about 30 minutes- it had been an hour and a half.
You will encounter deep, reflective questions.
There will be ice cream… but not enough.
There are other treats besides ice cream.
The photo opps are pretty awesome.
You will alternate between eating and posing; snacking and saying cheese. Be ready for your close-ups!
Wow!! Lovesit! I’m definitely adding this to my list of to-dos in San Francisco…This City is getting better by the day!!
Yes ma’am Miss Toya! 😉
