5 Travel Destinations for 2020

Happy New Year!! 2020… whether that makes you think of perfect vision, a renewed sense of clarity or simply the year after 2019, it has arrived!

My Baby Is Two

This month marks my two year blog-iversary (absolutely not a real word), and I’m still deciding what goals I’ll set for this year.  Is this the terrible twos??

Going into a new year is a natural time to reset, look back and plot your next move.  I’m excited about a few travel ideas already booked or in late planning stages alongside my usual day dreaming about grand adventures. This year, I’d like to cover some new ground.  Set my sights on unexplored states, countries, maybe even a new continent.  And as always, I’m excited to discover hidden gems right in my backyard.

The Minimalist Approach

After a nice long holiday break and two years of weekly posts under my belt, I’m deciding to focus on quality over quantity this year.  “What does that mean?”, you might ask.  Instead of a new post every Tuesday, I’ll be posting more like monthly (still on Tuesdays), so I have more time to explore and build out great content.  I believe the old saying is true, sometimes less is more.  Now, there will be times when I may get more than one flash of inspiration in a month (or have a lot to share about an epic adventure) and in those cases, there will be bonus posts!  As a bit of a teaser, here are five travel moments I’m envisioning for 2020.

1. Mexico City

My sister and I share a birthday month, which also happens to be the beginning of Spring.  Time to shake off the winter blues and plan a birthday vacay!  This year, I’ve got my heart set on Mexico City.  Do you ever feel like a place keeps popping up in conversation, again and again, until you feel like it’s a sign you should go?  That’s the vibe around Mexico City for me.  Bursting with vibrant culture, good eats, great accommodations on the cheap… sounds like a birthday adventure in the making.

2. Yosemite (or Big Sur)

It’s time to get out in some nature.  And by that I mean a brief hike, followed by spa treatments and a glass of wine by a cozy cabin fireplace- let’s be clear: glamping not camping.  My nature moment really needs to happen in 2020.  This Cali girl is ready to hug a tree (or just pose with one on a gentle hike).  Baby steps.

3. Memphis

As some of you know, I’ve had several work trips to Nashville over the past year.  I’ve really enjoyed my time in Nashville– yet on each trip someone mentions how I really need to check out Memphis too.  I feel like there’s music, perfect bites and some good Southern swag waiting for me in Memphis.

4. New Orleans (again!)

So, I know what you’re thinking- I’ve been to New Orleans several times.  I’ve taken you with me to Essence, Mardi Gras and even on an awesome New Orleans food crawl.  Here’s the thing- I haven’t done a random, off the beaten path weekend in NOLA yet.  No festival, no holiday, just a day in the life of NOLA.  Now that I think about it, this post is long overdue!

5. Barbados

The Caribbean misses me, I’m sure of it.  We go together and this dating long distance thing isn’t working out. It’s been way too long since my last island adventure.  Barbados has been on the list forever and I feel like this year it could happen.  Somebody needs to wander down pristine white beaches, dipping her toes in sparkling turquoise waters in search of the perfect bites and festive rum drinks at the annual Barbados Food and Rum Festival.  Tough job, but I’m not scared of a lil’ hard work.

2020: The Vision

January is nearly half over, if you can believe it. As I sit on my first flight of 2020 typing this post, I can feel the wheels turning on some new ideas that I hope you’ll love this year.  Looking at the beginning of my wish list of travel destinations for 2020, maybe the terrible twos will be okay after all!

If you have something you’d like to see on Brown Lady Travels this year (packing lists, a destination guide, interviews), please drop me a note in the comments. 🙂

Here’s to another year of perfect beaches and perfect bites!
