I do realize it’s still very much spring. We’ve definitely had the April showers; I’m ready for the May flowers. But knowing that time flies, I felt like this was an appropriate time to start thinking about the long, lazy, sunny days of summer. Days at the beach, outdoor festivals. Sandals and sundresses. Bikinis and BBQs. That summer glow. As I begin the countdown to Memorial Weekend, (which always feels like the start of summer), here are some of my favorite beauty products for summer travel.

Skin Care

1. Mario Badescu Facial Spray

My sister got me on Mario Badescu Facial Spray a while back. All of the scents are wonderful (and you should try them!). The aloe, cucumber and  green tea spray is like a spa moment in a bottle, perfect as a refresh after a plane ride or long day in the sun.

2. Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Face Moisturizer

This gel has a cooling effect that makes it perfect for summer months. Garnier SkinActive Moisturizer is lightweight and non greasy; hydration that isn’t too heavy to wear on hot days. It’s also the perfect size for travel; it stays in my toiletry bag.

3. Neutrogena Clear Face Break-Out Free Liquid-Lotion Sunscreen

My favorite face sunscreen, Neutrogena Clear Face provides protection without leaving your face a greasy, hot mess. I’ve made it through many an island beach party without getting burned, with this sunscreen tucked in my bag.

4. Viva Naturals Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is magical. Anything you can use for cooking, hair and skin is something you need in your life. Viva Naturals Coconut Oil is in my bathroom all year long. It’s great to apply to damp skin just after a shower; especially after a day in the sun.

5. Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch, Lotion Sunscreen

Unlike many sunscreens, Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch doesn’t leave a white film on your skin or feel like glue. It’s lighter, more like a lotion and has a hint of shimmer. It gives your skin a nice glow, more subtle than some glittery bronzers.

6. eos Active Lip Balm

eos is a great addition to your travel bag and this fruity lip balm is both water resistant and SPF 30, to keep your lovely lips from burning this summer.

Hair Care

7. Lush Shampoo Bar

I was a bit skeptical about whether a shampoo bar would work for my thick curly hair, but was pleasantly surprised. Perfect for travel, this small solid shampoo bar won’t spill on your clothes in transit and will last for weeks or even months on the road. Try Honey I Washed My Hair, it smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling clean and soft.

8. Hask Argan Oil From Morocco Repairing Deep Conditioner

For those of us with naturally dry hair, moisture is always key. Swimming pools, oceans and summer sun can wreak havoc on our hair. Hask Repairing Deep Conditioner as a weekly treatment can keep natural curls poppin’ all summer.

9. Design Essentials Coconut Milk

My curls can be… temperamental. Too much conditioner can make them flat or crunchy, instead of soft and full. Not enough conditioner, or wrapping my hair in the wrong towel can make it frizzy. It’s a delicate dance, one made easier by Design Essentials Coconut Milk. I’ve tried countless products for my wash-and-go days, this is one of my favorites. Bonus: it smells like a tropical paradise.

Makeup

I am a Rihanna fan. Of course musically, but also as a smart business woman and trendsetter. She marches to the beat of whatever drum she pleases, and I’m here for it. Her launch of Fenty Beauty set the industry on fire and got even us girls who don’t live for makeup (me) involved. With the benefit of sun kissed and glowing summer skin on our side during this season, I only have two makeup picks- both from Fenty Beauty. The shimmer is real.

10. Fenty Beauty Gloss Lip Luminizer

Fenty Beauty Gloss Lip Luminizer is a gloss that looks good on pretty much anyone. Obviously not just for summer, but a great addition to your travel bag for those days when your natural glow takes center stage.

11. Fenty Beauty, Match Stix

The Fenty Beauty Match Stix is a great way to add a little bronzy highlight to your cheekbones (or sun kissed shoulders). The Rum Shimmer Stick is my absolute favorite and perfect for a day by the pool or at the beach.
