Google is playing games. I was minding my own business. Trying to get some work done earlier this week, I glanced at my phone and noticed an alert. From time to time, Google likes to remind you (via your saved photos) where you were on this exact date, in a previous year. Usually a photo of you and friends, happy and smiling someplace fun. ‘Rediscover September 5th, 2016′, says Google. It’s all well and good in theory. A nice idea really. Unless the photo is of you on a trip to Italy. Wine tasting in Tuscany, two years ago. Looking relaxed and blissfully happy. One of the best days of your life. And you are currently sitting in San Francisco at the end of another cold and foggy summer, working. Google, you are rude.
Making Lemons into Lemonade
After I got done pouting, I realized I was looking at this all wrong. Reminiscing can be one of the best things about travel. Much like music (another love of my life), photos can transport you back to another time and place. Recapturing the magic of a moment passed, sparking nostalgia, dusting off forgotten memories tucked away- pictures are wonderful reminders of our journey through life. So, two years after my epic European adventure, I take a moment to pause and enjoy a trip down memory lane. If you’ve been to Italy, I hope this pictorial trip brings a smile to your face. If you’ve never been, I hope you’re inspired to make a trip to Italy of your own!
Food, fashion, architectural sites, beaches, rolling hills dotted with vineyards- a trip to Italy covers all the bases. So, what are you waiting for?
