The time has come for another installment of the Perfect Bite Scavenger Hunt! A random collection of great meals I’ve stumbled upon, from work trips to vacations and lazy weekends. If you missed the first one, you’ve got some catching up to do! This time around I’ve got five more perfect bites to add to the list. Burgers to brunch, jerk wings to fish tacos- there’s a little something for everyone!
Bodega Bay, CA
Fishetarian Fish Market is probably the worst kept secret in Bodega Bay. Located on Highway One, this is a perfect addition to your quintessential California road trip. Visit on a weekend and they’ll probably have a line out the back door to prove it. Fresh fish tacos, clam chowder, fish and chips- pick your poison, it’s all yummy.
Sacramento, CA
The girls and I discovered Punch Bowl Social on a random Sunday afternoon, after leaving a summer music festival in downtown Sacramento. In search of something other that festival food, we were pleasantly surprised to find this gem nearly empty and serving brunch all day.
Try one of their festive drink flights, if you’re in a boozy brunch mood.
Nashville, TN
With thirty minutes before a conference call, hungry and in search of a quiet place to work- Cafe Coco delivered on all counts. I went in thinking I would order breakfast (which they serve all day), until I stumbled on the Black n Blue burger on the menu. Smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles and aioli… it was juicy perfection. If you’re in Nashville and can’t eat one more bite of hot chicken, this is the perfect change of pace!
Boston, MA
In town for TravelCon over the summer, I wandered into Earl’s Kitchen and Bar with a few new friends from the conference. On a particularly busy evening, they were somehow out of their signature tacos. Can you imagine? It turned out to be fate. I was supposed to know about this Impossible Burger.
I know what you’re thinking, everyone and their mama has an impossible burger now (including Burger King). I can’t speak on those, but this one? Pure fiyaaaah. Disclaimer, I added bacon to mine. I’m a work in progress, please don’t judge me.
Harlem, NY
Braving the rain one night with my friend Jovy, we went in search of Caribbean food and good cocktails. Welcome to The Edge Harlem. On a relatively quiet corner, the outside doesn’t quite capture the warm, cozy vibe that awaits you inside. Despite the rain, and it being a Monday- couples and friends enjoyed great plates of Caribbean cuisine and festive drinks. We picked a winner! Grab a order of fall-off-the-bone jerk wings to share and a ginger margarita to wash it down. I would love to show you the pineapple curry shrimp and jasmine rice that I devoured… but it was gone before I thought to take a picture. That says it all. Also, I didn’t know this at the time, but The Edge is owned by two Brown Ladies- sisters and native New Yorkers, Juliet and Justine Masters. All the more reason to support this awesome spot!
Until Next Time…
Hopefully you’ll have a chance to check a few of these perfect bites off your list too. The search continues!
