I have always loved books. As a kid, I borrowed as many library books as I could carry, often hiding under the covers long past bedtime, trying to finish just one more chapter. Summer always brought longer days, more time to play outside, no homework- and more time for books. While I don’t have as much time to read now, when I do sit down with a book, I’ll read it cover to cover.
As much as I love to travel, I don’t particularly enjoy flying. The one benefit to being in a confined space with nowhere to go for a few hours- I can get some good reading in. Whether I’m on a plane, or at the beach, give me some quiet time and I’ll get immersed in a story, time or place, far far away. Yes, this brown lady is still a bookworm.
As summer approaches and I plan travel for both work and vacation, I went in search of some stories to entertain me along the way. When I told my sister KT about this list, she added a few too. In this post, which I’m affectionately calling the Brown Lady Bookshelf, here are my essential summer reads for this year. Happy reading!
